…flies high over an old boat.

The Professor
Aboard are a firebrand PROFESSOR…
Bad News Comes In Threes
…and two thugs from his politics club — GALIP and METIN.
The Chake Returns
They head towards the shipwreck of the Pioneer perched on top of a tiny jagged rock of an island. A chake, a sea monster almost as big as the boat, swims lazily along beneath it.
The Sea Monster Closes
The chake swims towards a fish and makes a deep DAAAP sound. The fish is paralysed and snatched into the jaws of the predator. We speed past to the sea floor below the island.
A Sunken Mystery
Above the temple foyer is a carved LOGO.
The Way In
The island subsided a thousand years ago and the temple sank with it. The only way in is from under the sea.
Temple of the Gods
On the dais, the light from the scanner picks out two huge thrones with an altar between them. Every time the light sweeps past the altar, there is a flash of something golden. Erlan makes his way to the altar.
Salaminia Passenger Module
The shuttle Salaminia never enters the atmosphere so is not even slightly aerodynamic. It is covered in small passenger modules that act as cabins but double as escape capsules. There are also larger, spherical freight containers attached behind the passengers.
Salaminia on Approach
The shuttle gets closer, a tiny speck as it heads between two of the Spirit’s six-kilometre-tall engines.
The Spirit
If we converted the entire Spirit using fusion, we’d need ten trillion more like her to power us. Instead, the engines scavenge the fuel we need from underneath the fabric of space itself. The shuttle passes the engines towards the centre of the asteroid and heads for the dock.
Outline of Suda
This is a very early model, really just the shape of the Suda space station. It starts to give the sense of some of the scale the movie will achieve in places. At this distance, Suda is tiny next to the planet despite being 2KM across.
Island Remake
Still trying to make islands… This one is a remake of the first but with better understanding of how to use the engine. There are now some rock pools for Erlan to catch his dinner. The wreck of the Pioneer is gone because the model was too rough. Will probably buy one off the shelf […]
Meet Our Hero
OK, this image doesn’t stand up to the tiniest bit of scrutiny. In all ways but one, it’s pretty bad. Thankfully, the way it’s good is what it was meant to do: the initial impression. This is where we meet the hero, Erlan.
Play Before Annihilation
There are two main planets in Home Star so drawing planets in UE5 was essential. Channelling my inner Ming The Merciless, I drew Earth. Now only Flash can stop me! Taken from this tutorial.
Mucking Around
My first attempt at doing something in UE5. To me it looks impressive. Right up until you see it’s almost exactly the same as the tutorial I followed.
Metahuman Actors
The first Metahuman actors created for Home Star. They’ll be used to produce story boards and the graphic novel. These are the virtual actors for Rauk, Sovda and Erlan. They don’t have costumes yet.
